RULES for

TWIZZLES HAPPY FAMILIES

1. This is a round game for any number more than two.

2. Players must each collect "sets" of four cards which make up a "family". In this case the "sets" or "families" are TWIZZLE, BROOMSTICK MAN, SALLY CROSS and so on. On the "master" card in each set, e.g. TWIZZLE, are printed the names of the three articles that complete the set—cap, sandwiches, stick & bundle; and on each card showing one of the articles (e.g. the stick & bundle card), are printed the names of the other two articles required (cap, sandwiches).

3. The cards are dealt round singly and face down until the pack is exhausted. Each player then sorts his cards, arranging them as far as possible into "sets" or parts of "sets". Each complete set of four is a "trick", which the player can lay down in front of him, face down.

4. Play then commences with the player on the dealer's left asking any player he chooses for any card he may need to complete a set in his hand. If the player asked has the card he must hand it over, and the player who asked can again ask the same player or any other player for another card and so on until he receives a negative answer.

For example: Player A says to Player B, "Please may I have BROOMSTICK- MAN'S Trowel ?" If Player B has this card he must hand it over, and Player A can then say to Player D, "Please, may I have TWIZZLE'S sandwiches?" If the player asked hasn't got that Card he replies, "I'm sorry, you can't", and it then becomes his turn to ask for the cards he needs to make up his '"sets". A player may only ask for a card if he has other cards of that set in his hand already.

5. Immediately a player completes a set he can lay it down as a trick. After all the sets have been completed the player with most tricks is the winner.

6. A variation to the game: The player with the most tricks may ask any; other player for a complete set he thinks that other player has. If he is right, the other player must hand over the trick, and the first player can go on asking for sets as long as he is successful. But if he makes a mistake and asks for a set from a player who doesn't have it, the turn to ask passes to the player who was asked. This can go on until one player is in possession of all twelve tricks.
