DIRECTIONS
for playing the jolly game of
HAPPY FAMILIES.

The players sit round the table and the cards are equally distributed. A pool is formed to which each player contributes four counters. The game is commenced by the player to the left of the dealer asking anyone of the players for a character he requires for completing a family. If any one possesses the card he is asked for, he must give it up and the first player can ask again and again for any cards he requires until refused. The one who refuses him says: "Not at home" and then asks himself in the same manner for what he is in want of. No player can ask for a character unless he holds at least one or more of (he same family in his hand.

A "Happy Family" is- a complete set of four of one name, viz: Mr. Bull. Mrs. Bull, Miss Bull and Master Bull and when a set is completed If is put on the table face downwards. The game is continued until all the "Happy Families" are completed and the one who has the greatest number of sets is the winner and is entitled to three quarters of the pool and the one who holds the second largest number gets the remaining quarter.
