1.Take as many sets of cards as there are players: thus 4 players, 41 sets.
2. Deal 8 cards to each player.
3. The object is to get a complete set of 8 cards of one kind, the first to complete a set wins the hand, scoring as follows:—(1) Evenings, 8 points; (2) Provincials. 16; (3) Dailies. 24; (4) Sundays, 33; (5) Weeklies. 40; (6) Magazines. 48.
4. Having decided what set yon will try for, on the word "Go" from the dealer try to sell the cards you don't want, shouting their names: " Times." etc. Don't wait for turns start right a-way
5. If a paper is cried you need to complete a set, say for instance, " Answers." you shout "Here you are. "Answers! "and hand the seller any card in exchange, face downwards. Thus players go on buying as many cards as are on sale, irrespective of value.
6. SOLD cards pass, face up; BUYING cards face down.
7. Until someone completes a set, every player is both seller and buyer. When buying, do not let the seller know what yon intend giving in exchange, As long as a player offers to buy while a paper is being called, or directly after, the seller must sell—if 2 of more players offer to buy the same card, the seller must sell to the player who first offered to buy-in dispute, the idler decides who made the first bid.
£. Any player calling a paper he hasn't got to sell is fined 10 points, deducted from his score.
9 The first to complete a set puts them down and shouts "FLEET STREET," scoring the points for that set. The cards are re-shuffled and dealt again—250 points win the game.
