INSTRUCTIONS & RULES
for the Game of
"FAMO"
The Historical Card Game
Entered at Stationers' Hall. All designs copyright.
"FAMO” Cards are designed to represent famous events in history.
All these famous characters in turn are represented on three other cards by certain items or clues that made these people famous. A full list of the characters and clues will be found on the fourth page.
In addition a Joker is included, which makes the pack into 45 cards.
It will readily be seen that the cards offer unlimited scope for many card games to suit either one, two, three, four or even more players.
A few of these games are described.
"FAMO" POOL.
"Famo" Pool can be played by two or more players. Each player contributes one counter to the pool before commencement of the game. The first player to collect a set of four cards being the winner.
Four cards are dealt to each player —the dealer beginning with the player on his left—the remaining cards (main pack) being placed in the centre of the table face downwards, with the top card placed face upwards at the side: this will be the rejected pack.
The player on the left of the dealer commences the game by taking the top card of the main pack, or the top card of the rejected pack, always returning one card to the rejected pack face upwards.
The other players in turn then take a card either from the main pack, or the turned up card from the rejected pack, returning one card face upwards to the rejected pack.
When one player-has collected a set of four cards, he places the extra card on the rejected pack and calls "Famo." Being the winner of the game he takes the pool.
The Joker can take the place of any card in a set. Therefore, if a player having three of a set and the Joker calls "Famo," he will be the winner.
"FAMO" FOR YOUNGSTERS
The game is for each player to collect as many complete sets of four cards as possible.
The game commences by the player on the left of the dealer taking a card from the main pack and retaining it. The other players doing likewise in rotation. When a player has a complete set he places it face downwards in front of him.
When all the cards have been taken from the centre of the table, the player, whose turn it is, may ask any one player for a card to complete a set. If the player asked holds the required card he must give it up. If the player asked does not hold the required card he replies "No Famo."
A player may only ask for a card of any incomplete set which he holds.
The game continues until all the sets are completed.
"FAMO" SNAP
When two or more cards of the same set are shown the owner of either of them can claim them by calling "Snap Dick Turpin," or whatever the case may be.
