CINDERELLA

INTRODUCTION to WALT DISNEY'S CINDERELLA

Every boy and girl already knows the old story of Cinderella, but only those lucky ones who have seen Disney's beautiful film about Cinderella will know the lovable new characters he has brought into the story.

The cards in this game include both the old and the Disney characters, and for the benefit of those who have not seen the Cinderella film, the following little sketches will tell you who Disney's new characters are.

BRUNO. This is Cinderella's puppy, always wanting to take some of the conceit out of Lucifer, the cat.

BLUEBIRDS. These are little friends of Cinderella, who cheer up her dull life in her stepmother's home.

GUS and JAQ. Two of the little mice in the house and Cinderella's very best friends. She has a busy time keeping them out of the clutches of Lucifer.

BALL DRESS. This is a lovely dress that the Bluebirds and the mice made for Cinderella to wear at the Ball, but which the Ugly Sisters tear to pieces in a fit of jealousy. (Don't worry, the Fairy Godmother produces an even more beautiful one).

LUCIFER. The Stepmother's fat and spoilt cat who is constantly trying to get Cinderella into trouble and catch her little friends.

PLAY for 4 Players.

1.Place Cinderella and the Prince face up on the table as prizes.

2.Deal out the rest, 10 to each player, leaving two cards over. It is suggested that players arrange their hands with the highest numbers on the left and lowest on the right except that they place their "final" cards on the extreme right.

3.The dealer picks up the two cards left over and places them in his hand. He then passes any two cards that he does not need, to the player on his left. This passing continues until the hand is finished, but from the dealer's second turn onwards, any player at his turn may lay out any one set of 3 that he holds, namely, 3 Coaches, 3 Palaces, or whatever they may be. No player may lay down more than one set of 3 at each turn.

4.When passing cards it is not allowed to pass two "final" cards at the same time.

5.The first player to lay out a complete set of 3 claims the Cinderella card, and puts it down beside his set and scores 10 extra at the end of the hand.

6. The first player to lay out his second set, making two complete sets of 3, providing this is not the player who has claimed Cinderella, claims the Prince card and scores 5 extra points at the end of the hand.

7. No player may lay out the third and last set to finish the hand unless either he has already laid down Cinderella or the Prince card, or he has 2 similar "final" cards, for example, two Ugly Sisters, etc.

The first player to lay out three complete sets scores 5 extra points.

9. When any player has put down the third complete set the hand ends and all players score the value of the sets they have laid down. Note: A set of Palaces (for example) scores 7 not 21.

10. There are no penalties for cards left in the hand and it does not matter which cards are left in the hand of either the player playing 3 sets or any other player.

11. As the dealer has a slight advantage, since he is the first player to have the chance of laying down a set, it is suggested the winner of the Game is the player scoring most points at the end of 4, 8 or 12 hands.

PLAY for3 Players.

The Rules are exactly the same as for 4 players, except:—

1. Take out 11 cards from the pack, namely, the 3 Brunos, the 3 Blue Birds and the 3 Fairy Godmothers, and also the 2 Stepmothers.

2. There will only be one extra card instead of two left over for the dealer to pick up, but he still passes 2 cards.

3. It is suggested that the game should be of 6, 9 or 12 hands, to give everyone an equal number of deals.

PLAY for5 Players.

The Rules are exactly the same as for 4 Players, except:—

1. The Prince card is taken out of the pack before play commences and is not used.

2. Each player will receive 8 instead of 10 cards.

3. The hand finishes when any player lays out a second set, and Rules 7, 8 and 9 apply to the second set instead of the third set, that is to say, the second set cannot be played except with 2 "final" cards unless the player has already acquired Cinderella.

4. It is suggested that the Game be of 5 or 10 hands.
