Welcome to the world of Childhood Treasures.....

THE PETER PAN CARD GAME
BY PEPYS CASSELL

During the dark days of the Second World War what could have been a better way to cheer up and brighten the children's lives than to give them an escape to Neverland in the form of a new Peter Pan game by Pepys.

This game has beautiful 1930s artwork and colouring. There were at least two issues of the game and both had two versions, the deluxe edition came in padded boxes and the other in a cheaper card box. Also collectors should note that the earlier versions were sold in a green boxes and the later ones in pink.

Deluxe Padded Boxes, with the Cheaper Card Box edition between them

The last two cards in the game show Wendy as a grown woman, which is only mentioned in the book, showing that the Pepys game had taken its inspiration more from the book “Peter Pan and Wendy”, unlike the earlier International edition that had used the play.

This Game is designed for three or more players. The complete set has forty five cards of four sets numbered 1 – 11 in Red, Green, Blue and White and an attractive Joker card featuring Peter Pan.

The card game is based on the rules of WHIST, with the first player to have a total of 500 points or more at the end of the hand winning the game.

As well as being able to play PATIENCE with these cards, the whole story of Peter Pan can be followed, if the cards are laid out in the proper sequence of Red, Green, Blue and White with the numbers running from 1 to 11.
