G E Farrow

He wrote a number of nonsense books that inevitably have been compared to Edward Lear, but over the years he did develop his own distinct style. His best known work is his first book, "The Wallypug of Why" which was illustrated by Harry Furniss, with some charming vignettes by Dorothy Furniss.

It was published by Hutchinson in 1895. Another two of his many works that deserves a mention is "An ABC of Every Day People" that was illustrated by John Hassall for Dean in 1902 and "Zoo Babies" illustrated by Cecil Aldin and published by Frowde/Hodder&Stoughton in 1913. George died in 1920, aged 58.
