Juliana Horatia Ewing
Margaret Gatty founded "Aunt Judy's Magazine" in 1866. Her daughter Julianna, who was born in 1841 in Yorkshire, grew up to be a frequent contributor. Juliana had previously published a collection of children's stories in 1862 and followed it with many more books, some illustrated by George Cruikshank and Randolph Caldecott. Her book "The Brownies and other tales" which was published by Bell & Daldy in 1870, is believed to have inspired the name of the junior section of the Girl Guides.
