Rowland Emett
Although born in London he went on to study at Birmingham School of Arts & Crafts. Starting his career as a commercial artist, he had an illustration accepted by Punch Magazine in 1939, just at the beginning of the Second World War. He became best known for his detailed drawings of trains and other more fantastical mechanical contrivances, as well as providing the artwork for two of Walter De la Mare's books. He was awarded an OBE in 1978 and died in 1990, aged 84. His most sought after volume is "Anthony & Antimacassar" by Mary Emett that was published by Faber in 1941.
