S G Hulme Beaman
Born in London in 1886 he went onto to become a Toymaker. Then in the Early 1920's he started producing comic strips in which the characters were based on his toys. These "Toytown " stories were strangely adapted for radio and became a firm favourite with the listeners of BBC's "Children's Hour" right up until its final program in 1964. Beaman himself had died in 1932. His "Road to Toytown" was published in 1925 and a book devoted to his most famous character "Larry the Lamb" was published by Collins in 1946.
