Mary Evelyn Atkinson
From the mid 1930's she wrote half a dozen adventure stories for children that feature the Lockett Family. She has been unfairly compared to Arthur Ransome of "Swallows and Amazons" fame but her books do stand on their own merits. She died in 1974 aged 75. Her first book, the "August Adventure" which was illustrated by Harold Jones and published by Cape in 1936, is her most sought after edition by her fans.
