Joan Aiken

 

The daughter of the famous American Poet, Conrad Aiken, she was born in England in 1924. Not just writing children's books, she has also produced a large number of horror stories aimed at the adult market.

Her most sort after book is her first, "The Wolves of Willoughby Chase" which was illustrated by Pat Marriot and published by Cape in 1962. It was later used as the basis of a successful Children's Film Script. The movie was released in 1989.
