Anne Anderson
Although she spent a large part of her life living in Argentina, she was born in Scotland in 1874. She returned to England to live in Berkshire where she met and married the Artist Alan Wright. She went on to collaborate with him on at least half a dozen children's books.
Of her early works, her illustrations for the "Old French Nursery Songs" and the "Old English Nursery Songs", both published by Harrap in 1915 are regarded as the best. "The Water Babies" by Charles Kingsley, which she illustrated in 1924 for the publisher Humphrey Milford remains the most sought after.
Her illustrations may also be found in children’s annuals published by Blackie's and Cassell's, and also on Royal Doulton China, as well as on postcards
